Introduction

Transportation laws encompass the body of regulations governing the movement of people and goods, including infrastructure and its use, across various modes like road, rail, air, and water. These laws are established by government agencies and impact individuals, companies, and transportation providers

Transportation Law typically covers the legal principles governing the movement of goods and people, including various modes of transport (road, rail, air, sea), and the associated contracts, regulations, and liabilities. Topics include the role of common carriers, carriage of goods and passengers, and relevant legislation like the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act. 

Course Content:

·        Introduction to Transportation Law: This section provides an overview of the field, its scope, and its importance in the context of commerce and society. 

·        Legal Frameworks in Transportation: This covers the various laws and regulations that govern transportation, including both national and international laws. 

·        Contract Law in Transportation: This module focuses on the contracts used in transportation, such as contracts of carriage, charterparties, and bills of lading, and how they are interpreted and enforced. 

·        Common Carriers and Public Utilities: This section delves into the specific legal obligations and liabilities of common carriers, who transport goods or passengers for hire. 

·        Carriage of Goods: This module covers the legal aspects of transporting goods, including the duties of carriers, shipper responsibilities, and the process of delivering goods. 

·        Carriage of Passengers: This section focuses on the legal issues surrounding the transportation of passengers, including safety regulations, liability for accidents, and passenger rights. 

·        Regulation of Transportation Industry: This covers the various government agencies and their role in overseeing and regulating transportation activities. 

·        Dispute Resolution in Transportation: This module explores the methods for resolving disputes that arise in the transportation industry, including litigation and arbitration.
